Let’s begin by finding a way of sitting or lying down that feels supported... somewhere you won’t need to move for a little while.
Let your eyes close, or soften your gaze toward the floor.
Take a breath in... and let it go, a little slower than it came in.
Breathing in. Breathing out.
One breath at a time.
Watch it arrive, notice it leave.
We’re in the last stretch of summer right now. There’s a particular kind of light this time of year, a little more gold than it was in July. Have you noticed?
The birds are sleeping in a bit.
The air still holds on to heat, but a sweatshirt in the evening feels nice.
The mindful practice is to notice these fleeting moments.
Summer is asking us to notice it all, before it moves on.
Too many times, Good moments don’t automatically sink in.
We tend to think that good moments will take care of themselves... that if something’s pleasant, we’ll naturally absorb it.
But most of the time, a good moment passes through us the same way a plain one does. We’re already thinking about what’s next. The moment happens, and we miss it happening.
Savouring is the practice of staying a little longer than you need to.
