(My apologies to those who joined me live for our meditation this morning. Just as we were about to begin, a power outage occurred in our area. So we were forced to practice on our own. The power was finally restored this afternoon, and I was able to record the meditation. I hope you enjoy.)
The other day, I found myself sitting still, watching a tiny ant carry a dead insect, easily twenty times its size. It was slow and awkward, but the ant just kept going. It looked like a huge effort as it zigzagged its way across the porch. But yet, there was no drama, no giving up. And it struck me as I was watching this feat, that often we’re much stronger than we look—or feel.
As you know, there are moments in life when things feel too heavy, too big to move, or just plain exhausting. But I’ve learned from my many years on this earth that strength isn’t always loud or visible. Sometimes, it’s quiet and steady. Sometimes it’s just taking the next small step, even when the load feels impossible.
So, this morning, in our meditation practice, let’s remind ourselves of our strength and resiliency, before we even start the day!
