What We Take For Granted

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much of life happens quietly in the background. (Maybe it’s my week lost to the flu and feeling behind. Maybe it’s just the role of the mom during the holiday season)

So much of what supports us every day doesn’t ask for our attention—until something changes.

We don’t usually notice our health until it’s compromised.
We don’t notice our breath unless it’s strained… or unless we choose to practice with it. We don’t notice our heart unless its rhythm shifts or surprises us.

And it makes me wonder—what else do we miss simply because it’s working?

Relationships that hold us.
The ability to move our body without effort.
The ease of stepping outside.
The small conveniences that smooth our days.

The practice this morning isn’t about forcing gratitude or trying to feel a certain way. It’s about slowing down enough to notice what’s already here—
the ordinary supports that quietly shape our lives.

So let’s take a few minutes together to gently turn toward what we often take for granted, not to judge ourselves, but to see more clearly.

Let’s begin…
